Message from our General Manager

We are honored to present to you the new edition of Pointer Telocation's newsletter.

It has already been nine months since the Cellocator – Pointer merger in which we succeeded during this period to unify the companies and build the Cellocator division with an intention to focus on supplying products to customers. The merger of the two companies has already proven itself as reflected in the Q1 financial results.

Being a major leader in the Telematics field with a proven quality reputation and an impressive track record, we have decided to keep on growing and developing the Cellocator™ brand and have therefore named our product division accordingly.

Within our rapid growth period we built a new sales and marketing force and conducted a successful Cellocator™ Telematics Product-Line Update Seminar in Eilat, Israel, followed by our impressive presentation at the CeBIT exhibition in Hannover, Germany. We are looking forward to participating in more lucrative events in the upcoming year.

This issue will cover our new cutting edge technologies, existing and new emerging business partners, press coverage and marketing events.

I wish you an interesting and enjoyable reading.

Sincerely,

Israel Ron

What's New?

Upgrading to the newest version?  Firmware 27 is your solution!!!

Firmware 27

Among our key features:

 Saving Your Communications Costs
The "Roaming list" feature enables saving on communication costs when the device roams outside the home cellular network. It provides a list of up to 100 prioritized networks, including the ability to prevent connecting to the selected ones.
V-Trek - Transmissions rate as a function of velocity. Starting with version 27 it is now possible to set a dynamic rate of transmissions in accordance to the vehicle speed, enabling proper tracking resolution according to the vehicle's speed.
Vast Variety of Emergency Tracking Possibilities
Enabeling control-center initiated security applications, Firmware 27 allows sending a command to the "Compact" unit (using the Cellocator's communication center) which will set it to start transmitting emergency messages according to the command configuration.

Superior Safety - Drivers GSM Control
It is now possible to switch OFF the Compact's GSM modem when an Input is activated, enabling fleet managers to provide drivers' means for shutting down the unit in HAZMAT areas.

 Immobilizer Deactivation by Driver Authorization
Driver-identification capabilities have been extended in Firmware 27 by using the Dallas keys (iButton) to immobilize a vehicle until a driver identifies himself.

Fuel Sensor

As fuel costs are rising globally, Pointer Telocation released a fuel-sensor
which allows the incorporation of fuel-monitoring services. The sensor converts the current reported by the fuel-tank (to the fuel gauge in the dashboard) into the voltage span required by the analog input of the Compact™. Typical applications are theft prevention/detection, leaks detection and refueling control.

Temperature Sensor

In order to enable our partners to address the refrigerated-tracking industry, Pointer Telocation released a temperature sensor which allows monitoring cooled compartments utilizing the Compact's analog input.

Vol. 6, No. 3. Pages 32-33
 Jun/Jul 2008 Issue

Fleet management and security at Madrid-Barajas International Airport pose many challenges. The airport, the fourth largest in Europe by number of passengers and largest by area, requires an organized and efficient system of vehicular monitoring, cargo maintenance, and passenger screening. TecnoSegur, a Madrid-based company specializing in consultancy and commercialization of internal security solutions, advises the airport on security for an entire fleet of cargo vehicles and transit buses traveling between terminals at the Madrid-Barajas International Airport. Security for airport as a whole is managed by AENA, the Spanish Airports Authority. The operation of the vehicles is largely focused on the new Terminal 4, the primary base for Iberia, Spain’s largest carrier.
